Should I have called his all in turn bet?

Should I have bet instead of checking the turn?  After I decide to check on the turn, should I have called his all-in?  I tanked for about 3 minutes and the villian said I should fold and said he has a big hand.  After i mucked he asked if I wanted to see his cards and I said no.  Another player on the table said he wanted to see one card so he opened a 10 of diamonds.  He said he had J 10 which was hard to believe since I had a pair of jacks.  While i was tanking, I feel there were too many hands that could beat me.  The only had I could beat was pocket 10's.   I look forward to your analysis!
