AA EP multiway?

  • Bobthegrey (North Las Vegas)

This will be my last post before my account closes on April 11th. I want to illustrate one of the most important things I have learned from Eric and Nick. That is AA is something you must be able to get away from if you want to win at this game.

Live $1/$2 cash game

V1 in MP1 with approx $350 stack

V2 in HJ with approx $400 stack

Hero is EP1 with $368 stack holding AsAh

Hero raises to $15, standard raise at table

V1 & V2 call all others fold. Pot now $43 after rake and drop for promotions.

Flop is Js 8d 5c - dry board.

Hero bets $30 V1 raises to $90 and V2 goes all in.

In episode 6 Nick talks about holding AA in early position multiway. In this episode he discusses what you should think about with a co-ordinated flop. Here I had a dry board so I chose to continuation bet but after the action behind me I had an easy decision. I have had to fold AA in hands before this one but the only hands I could possibly be facing here were two flopped sets or possible two flopped two pair. I thought the sets were more likely given the action. I smiled and threw my AA in the muck and sat back to watch the fireworks. This was not the first time I had folded AA or even KK but I did it knowing that it was the right decision and it was what I was taught by Eric and Nick. It is important to really absorb what they are saying here as you have to be able to get away from the big ones at times. Even as far as folding a set of aces or kings, see episode 203.

I was happy it only cost me $45 as I watched V2 stack V1s chips and V1 re-buy a rack of red. I did finish the session up $160 so was very happy with my play that evening.

Best of luck to all of you. Bob
