calling a short stacks all in

10 players  left; 9 will bag for day 2; very tight player goes all in from the small blind; comments from the players (after I folded) was that I had to call with any two cards; I did not want him to double and if I had a better kicker Iwould have called;but with only the 2,  I folded; was this correct? (player actually showed AK after I folded); thanks, Tim
