When should I float vs c-raise vs a donk bettor on the Flop?

Eric:

In episode 91 I was intrigued by Binger's recommendation to float vs a donk bettor when we are the preflop aggressor if we have two over cards, a gut shot draw, or a back door draw. Then he explained c-raising, which I do find very effective, and he added that c-raising is especially profitable when one has some equity (eg gut shot, back door).

In the example, we get one preflop caller as the preflop aggressor, then he donk bets on an uncoordinated board. Since we do not have two overcards, Nick recommends c-raise as his "the much better play" (yet we have a gut shot straight draw plus a back door flush draw with our 98s on a To6o2s flop) He makes it sound as if c-raising is a "much better play" when we have a gut shot plus a back door flush draw (approx 4.5-5 outs) compared to floating.

Looking for some nuance to this question ... in which situations would you float vs c-raise vs a donk better when we are the preflop aggressor, and what are the rationales?
