OK this is a bit whimsical, but it's a New Year, so here goes.
Lets say the hand has 3 players or it is heads up, one player bet the river, the remaining players all fold, the hand is over, the chips are being shoved to the winner and for some reason he looks at his cards again before mucking them face down.
I have seen this behavior every few sessions and from random players and I wonder if anyone out there has an explanation as to why the winner would look at his hole cards again? He surely knows what they are; I have never asked as it seems rude to me to do in a live game, so I'm asking here.
Any thoughts?
