Expected Value

The amount of money or chips a poker situation is worth to a player in the long run. In the majority of cases a player will chose to place their money or chips in the pot in a situation that will yield positive expected value over time. Expected value is calculated over millions of hands, however it also depends on other situational factors such as player and opponent skill. Abbreviated as EV.
