AJ in small blind facing preflop raise & call

  • monk (Austin)

Although I won the pot uncontested, I wonder if this raise was wise. The original raiser frequently open raises with a wide range, and Hijack is a fairly tight player. I thought Hijack would have raised if he had a strong hand. I decided AJo was not a good calling hand, and I did not want to go multiway to the flop, so I raised 3x the bet, plus the caller, plus the BB and limp bets. I looked at this as a squeeze opportunity-the original raiser should have a hard time calling since he had one player to act after him. I thought I would have a good chance to outplay Hijack post flop, if he called. How would you have played this?
