How often do you show your bluffing hand?

  • LesNessman (Chino Hills, CA)

I like to show my bluff hand sometimes to get under players skin... I did this three times last night in a WPT 500 satellite and won an entry to the qualifier as chip leader. Early on I had 2h3h on the button and made a three bet to 5x after MP2 came in for a in raise with blinds of 100/200. I stole the pot and then showed and everyone was laughing at me for showing. - Thanks, by the way for teaching us to re-raise without regard for our hand...

Then, later I was heads up against the same guy that had raised before, he had about 20BB and I was at 38BB. He raised preflop again and I moved in with AKo. He looks at me and says, "what 23 again"? He folded. And I'm thinking that I'm in his head now. I pulled the same type of play later against the TAG chip leader (heads up) where I was sure he had flopped top pair. I had a 12 outer; straight draw/flush draw. I had 100BB and he was at about 125BB. He bet 5BB on the flop from MP3 (after raising preflop to 3x with blinds of 1500/3000) and I moved allin from BTN. He instantly called time and after 3 minutes I called for the clock. He got frustrated at that, telling me that I was rushing him. He folded and showed K 10 and I showed that he had me beaten.

This dude went on a tirade and commenced to lecture me about how much money his "crew"makes and how I will never win anything. He went on to make disparing remarks alluding to the possibility that I am a "meth head". This is what I was living for... LOL

Anyhow, long story short, how often should we show our hand to throw off our opponents? I know that the mental game is a huge factor and look for certain players to exploit.
