This spot came up in Level 4 of a daily tournament. The last rebuy period. I find myself in these type of spots frequently in these rec heavy fields.
To develop the best preflop strategy, I evaluate:
1) First Limper, position and tendency: Early position limpers I am especially cognizant of...to determine if they are limp/raisers, limp/folders, and/or limp/callers. Most are limp/call:limp/folders...who limp hands they don't like getting 3bet, but like to see a flop with. I had some hands shown on this player, and classified the UTG limp as a forked range of a limp/call:limp/fold type player.
2) My Image: I had played multiple tournaments with two of the players in this pot, and they are aware I will squeeze here with a wide range
3) Call 2bet ranges and VPIP Ranges of other players in the pot: The wider they call passively, the more likely I am too squeeze
4) Blockers or Hand Value: My hand has decent equity against limp/call shove ranges, and blocks calling ranges of limpers (KQ,AJ,AK)
Wanted to get your feedback on default criteria for shoving, limping behind, and folding in these passive spots with awkward stacks.
Thanks,
PT
